Improving livelihood of the poor and drought affected communities

We are UNISOD:

The United Society for Sustainable Development (UNISOD) is a non-political, non-governmental, non-profit making and non-religious organization, which was established in 2003 as Community Based Organization.  In compliance with the government regulations, UNISOD was then registered with Ministry of Justice, of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in 2004 and reregistered in December 2009 under the Ethiopian CSO law.

Since its establishment UNISOD has been working in both emergency relief and development programs in Siti and Fafan zones in Somali Regional State of Ethiopia, With its key international NGO partner Oxfam GB, Save the Children UK, UNICEF through multi Donors.



We exist for the needy:

UNISOD exists to support the neediest and reoccurring drought affected communities, particularly the disadvantageous groups (women, children and elderly) in Eastern parts of Ethiopia. In order to discharge their moral obligations, the founders of UNISOD assumed the huge roles and responsibilities of, and committed themselves to, make a difference in the lives of the target community through diverse efforts directed at changing the perception and understanding of the public, Capacity Building and Technical supports in line with Millennium Development Goals (MDG).

Where we work

UNISOD  mainly works in Somali region. It is involved in various emergency coordination/task force meetings. It is a member of the technical committee of Humanitarian Coordination Forum (HCF) in the region that meets and discuss on number of key humanitarian issues and responses, member of the national level pastoral forum Ethiopia (PFE) actively involved in pastoral humanitarian and development and policy related issues as well as , task forces of Water and Sanitation,  and  Livestock working group and other specific geographic areas coordination that are established when needed.
